Since 2020, the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA) has worked with a diverse group of partners to add 2.3 million image files to Wikimedia Commons, resulting in more than 55 million new views of these items through their inclusion on Wikipedia article pages, making DPLA the largest institutional contributor to Wikimedia Commons. In this session, DPLA will present the results of this work and representatives from both a major DPLA contributing institution and the Wikimedia Foundation will share how Wikimedia can be a valuable tool for exponentially increasing discovery and use of archival collections. This will include an introduction to the pathway DPLA has built to allow for easy upload of materials to Wikimedia, and our continuing work to reach new audiences in the Wikimedia universe.
