In 2018, Dryad shifted its focus to build up a large community of support across institutions, publishers, funders, and researchers. An initial workshop was held to understand community values adjacent to the winter 2018 Coalition for Networked Information meeting. Knowing that this could not be done in silo, Dryad partnered with the California Digital Library, Zenodo (based at CERN), and the Open Knowledge Foundation, and built up a global Scientific Advisory Committee. With over 50 institutional members from across the world now, there are considerable lessons to be shared around what it means to be community-led and how success relies on leveraging partnership strengths to make a larger impact. In this briefing, Dryad leadership will outline the hurdles, success, and lessons learned over the last few years (including from supporting COVID researchers) and give ample time for discussion around priorities going forward to best support institutional values in research data publishing.
