The University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Library, bolstered by a grant from the Institute of Museum and Library Services as part of the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program, is set to develop 14 instructional modules in 2023 and 2024. These modules are designed to empower librarians to enhance their expertise in the principles and practices of Open Science. Orchestrated by the UCLA Library Data Science Center, the initiative has already selected its top seven lesson proposals and successfully conducted summer seminars in August and September of 2023 to facilitate the development of these chosen modules. These curated lessons encompass a broad range of topics, including data management, FAIR and CARE principles, inclusivity, reproducibility, open science hardware, and open science team agreements. Upon completion, the lessons will be made publicly accessible through the Carpentries Incubator platform. This October, the Data Science Center initiated a call for proposals for 2024, inviting contributions that explore areas distinct from the seven topics previously selected, yet still fall under the umbrella of open science.
