The Bamboo Project is completing the end of its 18-month planning phase, whose goal was to build a consortium of institutions to develop and sustain cyberinfrastructure for the arts and humanities. This briefing will report on lessons learned from the eight planning workshops in which approximately 600 arts and humanities faculty, librarians, and technologists from 120 institutions participated. The presentation will include an overview of the work proposed during Bamboo’s first implementation phase (2010-2011) and discussion of the reasoning behind programmatic and technical choices for the year one Bamboo build project. The Bamboo Planning Project is co-led by the University of Chicago and University of California, Berkeley with support from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
