The Story:
An intelligent radio system INTERNET based
Listening radio and doing office work are not incompatible activities. You can listen to music, politics, poetry, publicity or technical presentations while you do other activities. After a while of custom in the double activity, a sort of serendipity will grow. New ideas will emerge at work. The office activity will become pleasant and less anxious. The variety of stimuli to the brain will reduce the stress. A keyboard will be available to pinpoint ideas flowing from the brain: later, at a suitable time, you will explore your ideas.
But listen, what do you do if you need to travel continuously in the thousand streets of INTERNET (or any similar network)? Travelling INTERNET is certainly a curiosity. Participating at work group discussions is professionally important and stimulating. Looking at others often helps our work: we build analogies, we look at our work just reading the work of others. In modern competitive times information is mandatory. And participating with many people in understanding is rewarding: participation not competition is the prize!
Huh! The stress is so on the corner. Too many things together, too many discontinuities in our work. How to solve this dilemma?
Imagine to enter into a New INTERNET. In the morning you will listen your preferred broadcast Internet channel, while you answer e-mail, before going to continue your standard work. The broadcast Internet Channel will be time independent, the beginning time will be your choice. If you have selected the default, then part of the morning will be devoted to music and general information. No more than eight hours per day will be in any case available. Later a lot of disc jockeys (pardon : NEWS jockeys) will give you by voice hints of what is going on in your preferred discussions. Music and even publicity will be mixed together with joking style. Obviously not all publicities will appear: only those devoted to your field: if you are a computer designer, you will receive news on microprocessors and components. You have to remember only little of what you listen. You do not need to interrupt your work. To enter deeply into a subject will be very easy: you will search using information retrieval approaches to the subject referenced by the jockey. Slowly this jockey will invite you in understanding your field and you will be able to be different and at the same time similar to your competitors. The choice will be yours. So, freedom is one of the result of the best realization of the 19 century: INTERNET.
