Prior to 2020, CNI unveiled a new program plan at the annual fall membership meeting, offering an overview of priorities and plans for the upcoming program year. These provide a rich record of the evolving goals, interests, and concerns of CNI and its community.
In response to the challenges posed by the COVID-19 crisis, we halted the development of new program plans; at the time we said, “Preparing a new annual Program Plan would be an exercise in hubris, and likely futility, under the current circumstances.” Instead, we focused on gaining a better understanding of the shifting landscape—particularly with regard to the research enterprise, since many other organizations were focusing on issues related to teaching and learning in remote and hybrid environments—and assisting our members in formulating effective, timely strategies in response to the pandemic and other developments. More recent Executive Roundtable reports and recent membership meeting content provides insight into CNI’s current work. Additionally, visit the Topics and Workshops and Projects pages for more information about recent initiatives and programs.
In the future, we hope to resume issuing program plans, perhaps on a two or three-year cycle rather than annually; these will most likely reflect a considerable reorganization of how we describe and present the work of the Coalition.
