Propose a Project Briefing
for the CNI Spring 2022 Membership Meeting
DEADLINE: The proposal period has closed, and we are no longer accepting submissions.
About the Briefings
Project briefings (presentations) are the heart of every membership meeting. A limited number of project briefings are accepted. Project briefings address state-of-the-art developments and issues of interest to the membership, as outlined in each year’s Program Plan, as covered in recent member meetings, and as explored in recent Executive Roundtable reports (see also https://www.cni.org/topics for more information). Management of data, digital content, and institutional information resources; digital preservation; innovations in teaching and learning; and infrastructure to support research are topics that consistently engage CNI members’ interests.
- Anyone may propose a project briefing, including groups/individuals from non-member institutions and organizations.
- Speakers may request to present either virtually March 21–22 or in-person March 28–29. Once accepted, speakers will be contacted regarding the schedule.
- In-person project briefings are typically 30-minute to one-hour presentation sessions that allow participants to interact informally; they should include time for questions and general discussion. Virtual sessions may have shorter time slots and less audience participation. Final time slot assignments are made at the discretion of meeting organizers.
- If the in-person event shifts virtually due to public health considerations, in-person project briefings scheduled for March 28–29 will move to virtual synchronous sessions on March 28-29, extending to March 30 if needed.
- ALL IN-PERSON SPEAKERS WILL BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE PROOF OF VACCINATION.
-
Meeting attendees include senior IT and library administrators, publishing executives, government officials, and others with a high level of interest in and understanding of digital information issues.
-
Presentations provide information about a project’s goals, progress, and lessons learned, but they may also involve demonstrations. Issue-oriented briefings include the presentation of background information on a “hot topic” and more time for general discussion with the audience. Project briefings are not intended to serve as marketing sessions for new products or services.
- Applicants will be notified whether or not their proposal has been selected.
- We strongly urge all those presenting grant CNI permission to record and make their session subsequently available.
- Pre-recorded, asynchronous briefings have been discontinued as part of the meeting in favor of a year-round, ongoing series of project briefing editions, the CNI Project Briefing Video Series, as outlined in this recent announcement. The Spring 2022 meeting will only include in-person and live, virtual project briefings.
