Representatives from CNI member organizations gather twice annually for Task Force (membership) Meetings. The meetings are designed to explore new technologies, content and applications; to further collaboration; to analyze technology policy issues; and to catalyze the development and deployment of new projects. Each member organization may send two representatives.Project Briefings are the very heart of every Task Force Meeting. These are 1-hour break-out sessions which address state-of-the-art developments and issues of interest to the membership, as outlined in each year’s Program Plan.
Plenary Sessions are held at the beginning and end of each meeting and include presentations of CNI’s latest initiatives as well as insights from national and international leaders in the networked information community. This year, The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation will present its 2008 Awards for Technology Collaboration and Clifford Lynch will present an overview of the 2008-09 CNI Program Plan, during the meeting’s opening session. The recently-issued report by the NSF Task Force on Cyberlearning, Fostering Learning in the Networked World: The Cyberlearning Opportunity and Challenge, will be the focus of the closing plenary session, featuring the Task Force’s Chair, Professor Christine Borgman of UCLA.
