To honor the memory of CNI Founding Executive Director Paul Evan Peters, the Coalition sponsors the following honors in his name:
- The Paul Evan Peters Award recognizes notable, lasting achievements in the creation and innovative use of information resources and services that advance scholarship and intellectual productivity through communication networks. The award is sponsored by the Association of Research Libraries, EDUCAUSE, and the Coalition for Networked Information. A winner of the award is chosen approximately every two years.
- The Paul Evan Peters Scholarships (previously called “fellowships”) are intended to assist students pursuing graduate degrees in information studies who demonstrate intellectual and personal qualities consistent with those of Peters, including a commitment to the use of digital information and advanced technology to enhance scholarship, intellectual productivity, and public life; support of democratic values; humor and imagination.
